Lane Cove Swim Club (LCSC) is a non-profit community swimming club based at Lane Cove Aquatic Centre, 2 Little Street Lane Cove. We promote swimming in the community at every level from recreational and fitness to elite athlete squad training for competition at local, statewide and national swimming meets. We are one of the oldest swimming clubs in Australia.
Lane Cove Olympic pool was opened in 1961 and Lane Cove Swim Club was founded shortly afterwards.
Our club is run by a dedicated team of volunteers. Although we are largely funded by membership fees, we conduct regular fundraising activities to ensure our facilities are of a high standard. We are grateful for the generous support of our community, and our major sponsors.
Club races run throughout the year, including Saturday morning club from 7 - 9am from Spring to Autumn in the outdoor 50m pool and Winter club races once a month in the indoor heated 25m pool on a Friday evening. Saturday morning club is a friendly social gathering for the whole family from infants to grandparents. Adults of all ages take the opportunity to race with squad swimmers and younger swimmers. It is common to see 80 year olds racing with 8 year olds.
Members of the club need to register for their events online through the clubs website. Anyone interested in joining the Club can come along and try the races by turning up at 7am sharp and giving their details to the Saturday morning club team in the club house at the end of the 50m outdoor pool. After the races are swum, each individual’s times are recorded to track their progress throughout the season and to build on a cumulative point score that precedes awards at our end of season presentation night.
Following participation in three Saturday clubs, swimmers are eligible to take part in our annual Mile swim, which takes place in February each year, and our Club Championships which take place at the end of the Summer season.
Free learn to swim classes are conducted at the end of Saturday club.
Competitive Club members are eligible to compete in public meets that are run by Swimming Australia and other clubs state wide. Further information on our squad program can be found here.
