Saturday Morning Club

Saturday Morning Club is a friendly competition for recreational, fitness and competitive swimmers. It is open to all ages, all swimming levels and all members registered as a LCSC swimmer. It runs over the summer season from October to March each year and when 3 meets have been attended qualifies you for entry in the annual Club Championships.

Races are held in the Lane Cove Aquatic Centre outdoor 50m pool starting at 7:00am sharp.

Strokes include Freestyle Backstroke, Breaststroke and Butterfly. Entries should be submitted via the Swim Central website which closes at 6:00pm on the preceding Friday (for seeding). Last minute entries for guests and trial members (not yet registered), or if Swim Central is unavailable, can be accepted on Saturday morning depending on time restrictions and lane availability.

The strokes raced each week are rotated through a three week cycle (Week A, Week B & Week C) so that distances and strokes are distributed evenly over the season (an Individual Medley is recorded as Freestyle points). Check the Club Calendar for the schedule of events.

  •  Strokes available for “Week A” are Freestyle, Breaststroke, Butterfly.
  •  Strokes available for “Week B” are Freestyle, Backstroke, Breaststroke.
  •  Strokes available for “Week C” are Freestyle, Backstroke, Butterfly.

Important : you may swim in a maximum of 3 races and each race entered must be for a different stroke.

Races are run in distance order 100m, 50m and 25m with each heat seeded to enable swimmers to race next to swimmers who have similar times.

Volunteers are always needed and much appreciated for efficient running each week. We need 1 time-keeper per lane, a check-starter and a marshal to help the swimmers do their best. Please make yourself known to a committee member on the day if you are able to assist.

 Summer Club Point Score competition

For each race you swim, your time is recorded. Points are then calculated based on the difference between your graded and recorded times on the day. These points count towards the Summer Club Point Score. There are numerous age categories for each gender plus a Family Point Score if more than one family member swims.

At the end of the season all the points from each race swum are totalled. The swimmer with the highest accumulated points for each category is then awarded a perpetual trophy at our annual Club Presentation event.

 BBQ

The BBQ is fired up most weeks with delicious sausage and bacon/eggs sandwiches. Pre-purchase and pick up is available at the end of the morning.
