Meet the Coaches

Head Coach - Brett Winkworth

Brett has had 20 years' experience in the swimming industry and is Nationally recognised as an ASCTA Gold License coach.

Since 2007 Brett has developed athletes to achieve State, National and International team selection, often having past athlete's return to his program to reset and share their knowledge/experience's with the upcoming generation.

The Lane Cove Gold squad seaminglessly combine Master's through to National and State Age competitors blending together youthful enthusiasm with experience and maturity to get the work done.


Competitive Coach - Aaron Funnell

Aaron holds a Silver License and is Nationally recognised by ASCTA. He has been coaching for 17 years from Learn to Swim through to Development ages and adults.

Prior to starting at LCSC, Aaron was the Head Coach of Terrey Hills Swim School for 13 years.

He has placed swimmers on the Pacific School Games NSW team every year since 2007 with an abundance of success and medals, reaching to 30+ over the years.

His athletes have won multiple club Metro and State medas of all age groups and events.

Aaron has had swimmers selected on to the NSW Junior Sharks IM Squad 5 years in a row, with 2016 being the year he was appointed as the Junior Sharks Head Coach. He has also had swimmers selected for the NSW Age Development squad.

Since 2011 Aaron has had multiple Age National qualifiers and top 10 finalists.  Most recently he had swimmers selected on to the 2017 Age Development Squad. He endevours to makes himself a big part of each swimmers development.


Head Coach (Wenona) - Michael Creighton

Michael is the Head Coach of the Wenona facility in North Sydney, with 10 years of competitive coaching experience. He holds a Bronze License and is Nationally recognised by ASCTA.

Michaels number one goal with coaching is to provide a professional, enjoyable and challenging environment where athletes can be guided to reach their optimal physical potential in both competitive and non-competitive areas.

He endevours to pass on his passion and enthusiasm of the sport to his athletes so they continue to train or compete well into their adult life, or even pick up the stopwatches and becomes coaches themselves!

Since starting at Wenona Michael has placed 5 swimmers onto the NSW school team competing at both School Nationals and Pacific Schools Games teams.

In 2016 he had a swimmer selected on to the NSW Junior Shark squad while 2017 was the first year he had swimmers qualify for the Swimming Australia National Age Championships.

He has also coached a Multi Class swimmer to National Age and National Open level, this in turn has placed her on the Swimming Australia Tokyo 2020 Development Team.
